2025 Sky Blue Sky 100g Bai Mudan cake

What a fabulous journey through the session. It moves from toasted rice and grass notes to a mouthful of cantaloupe juice by the 4th steep. I was underwhelmed at first but then it made such a magical transition.

The first few steeps reminded me of toasted rice and grass. Nothing too and special nothing to write home about. It was light and reminded me of spring but that was about it. But then by the 4th steep, everything about the soup changed. It was like I was sipping on cantaloupe juice! Its flavor profile got flipped on its head! What a remarkable experience. Most tea sessions tell a story but this one was like reading a novel about someone’s entire life history and future.

This tea cake is wonderful with quite a lot of silver needle-ish buds and the leaves themselves are a lively shade of green. The tea soup is light, tasty, and floral! I have only had baimudan as a loose leaf so having it as a cake is such an experience. I will be buying this again in the future, once I finish this one!!

Delicate flavor at a reasonable price for everyday drinking

Loved this so much I got a second cake just to age it! Accurate description on tasting notes, and because it is a "greener" white tea, be sure to lower the temp! (brewed it gongfu style)

Wonderful for lighter mornings because of the bud content boosting the caffeine in this.
